We offer services to help your child thrive.
Intensive Therapy Programs
Intensive physical therapy is proven to boost children’s motor skills that with traditional outpatient therapy may take six to twelve months to develop. By adopting an approach of consecutive days in therapy, children can build on gains and reach next levels of function at a quicker pace. This therapy model is also a great option for when a child plateaus in traditional therapy.
Traditionally, intensive therapy programs run for 3 or 4 weeks, for 3 to 4 hours a day, 4 or 5 days per week. At Ferrer Pediatrics we understand that committing for such a long period of time may be challenging. Therefore, we’ve built different models to accommodate families’ needs.
CIMT Program
Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) is a method of upper extremity rehabilitation for children with neuromotor impairments. CIMT encourages the use of the affected side by restraining the unaffected side.
The main benefits of this type of therapy are:
Improved functional use and control of affected arm/hand
Increased range of motion of affected arm/hand
Improved coordination and strength of affected arm/hand
Wellness Consults
Maria Teresa regularly communicates with parents around the world using FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, or WhatsApp. This time allows her to tailor home plan advice to a particular child's needs and take into account the parent's tools at hand. Parents can discuss the goals they have for their child and learn how to implement at home options to help their child continue to make strides.
